Blogging has swept
the poker world recently, as more and more professional and amateur
poker players create blogs. Their reasons range from chronicling
their experiences in the world of online poker, to keeping fans
updated on their progress in offline tournaments where millions
of dollars are at stake.
PARTY POKER, I LOVE YOU!!
I've read enough of everyone else's blogs that say you're losing
money if you're not playing at Party. I finally withdrew some
money from UB and deposited it in Party to see what kind of
damage I could do. I played there once before, but at the lowest
limit tables they had and I got creamed. I don't know how to
play tables where you raise and get 8 callers. Don't know if
I ever want to know how to play those tables. Anyway, I sat
down tonight at the no-limit tables.
I took $25 to a 6 handed $50 NL table. Not being used to the
graphical view or the supposedly fishy players, my strategy
was to rebuy for another $25 if I needed to but to not lose
more than $50. Well, I lost a little here and a little there
until I ended up rebuying that extra $25. Lost a little more
and then I'm down to $17. I was playing limit in the background
at a UB table and was down $16. That put me down $49 for the
night. Not only that, but according to my limit challenge, if
I lost $0.35 more, then I'd have to move down to the .50/1.00
tables.
I'll shorten the story...I won a big hand at the UB table getting
me from -$16 to +$1. At the same time, I got QQ at the Party
table and doubled up when someone went all-in before me and
I hit quads (he had 66). So now I have a little more than $35
and am dealt AA in the SB within the next 5 hands. MP raises
from $1 to $3, the dealer calls. I raise to $9 and the dealer
calls. The flop is 553 rainbow. I had put him on a middle pocket
pair when he called two raises, so I figured he would call an
all-in...he did call my all-in on the flop, but can you guess
what he had? I should make it a contest and give away money
for whoever guesses it, but the prize would have to be $1 million
because nobody would ever get it on their first guess. He had
94 of diamonds and there were no diamonds on the flop. He needed
two cards for a straight or 4,4/9,9. I know what you're thinking.
He must not have had much money left. Well, I raised it to $9
preflop and my flop all-in bet was $25 and I only had him covered
by 1 or 2 dollars. That reminds me of a play in our home game
awhile back. A newbie called a large river bet without even
a pair. When we asked him why he called, he responded "I
thought he was bluffing". You can't call a bluff with nothing!...Well,
you can call me with nothing if you want.
I'm probably losing money as I type because I'm playing a Party
table at the same time and am unable to pay attention to the
players and type this at the same time. Losing profit that is.
I'm up $50 while typing this. I love the fishies...Feel like
I owe some commission to the other bloggers who finally convinced
me to make the switch.

I wish play money mattered
when considering in people's ability and skill at poker. However,
it tends to not mean anything. I've been playing on VIP Poker
for almost 3 weeks now, and I've got to say I'm in love with
it. I just love playing on it. While playing on Party Poker,
people would go all-in on every single hand and would bet anything
and everything to the flop not only in real money, but also
in play money. Hey, it's not real so I might as well, right?
Well, things are different on VIP Poker. I'm not always continuously
getting sucked out. The people tend to be friendlier. One can
finally test their wits on a play money interface.
